On Sunday night, the nation's favorite guessing game, The Masked Singer, returned to ITV for its seventh season, and the character Conkers made a memorable debut. The premise is simple: celebrities don elaborate costumes and perform hit songs, all while trying to conceal their true identities from the judges and the viewers at home. It's a recipe for hilarious performances, wild speculation, and the occasional shocking reveal.
Conkers, the latest addition to the masked mayhem, immediately piqued everyone's interest. During the show, Conkers dropped a few hints about their identity. They spoke of "hitting the mark," alluded to being "scared," and even hinted at having faced enemies, likely in a competitive setting. These clues, combined with their rendition of Myles Smith's "Nice To Meet You," sent the judging panel – Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, and Mo Gilligan – into a frenzy of guesses.

Why Olly Murs, you ask? Well, Murs rose to fame as the runner-up on The X Factor in 2009, losing out to Joe McElderry. He's since become a successful pop star, releasing his eighth studio album, Knees Up, just recently. One fan tweeted, "Conkers sounds like Olly Murs deliberately singing off key!" Another offered a more detailed explanation: "I’m saying Conkers is Olly Murs disguising his singing voice! Lego heart + 'hit my Mark' - he presents a Heart radio show with Mark Wright. 'Ghosts don’t scare me' - he has a song called Go Ghost." The evidence, they argued, was undeniable.
But not everyone is convinced. Some viewers are throwing another name into the ring: football legend Peter Crouch. One comment read, "Think Conker is a sportsman. Getting Peter Crouchy vibes." Could Conkers be throwing us off with a slightly-off singing voice? Is it a deliberate misdirection? And this is the part most people miss: The Masked Singer is known for its elaborate misdirection. Jones revealed she wanted her performance to serve as an inspiration to her three children, Teddy, Kit, and Annie, by showing them that overcoming fear is a good thing, even if it means singing on national television without a 'proper' singing voice. What a great message for her kids! She performed Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club for the judges and audience.
Speaking of Goldfish, Anne-Marie was previously unmasked after performing as the lead singer of a group called No Trout – a first for the show! After performing Bruno Mars and Rose hit APT, the judges correctly guessed her identity. She then gave her first unmasked performance, singing her signature track "2002," which references music icons like Britney Spears, Jay-Z, and NSYNC.
As well as Gargoyle, other stars still in the competition include Red Panda, Can of Worms, Moth, and Sloth. On Sunday night, Monkey Business, Teabag, Toastie, Yak, Arctic Fox, and Conkers will perform for the first time.
